We have just had a Council Meeting. Council Meeting sounds like a boring title doesn't it? But I didn't think it was boring, to hear that on the 20th November, on the Saturday night, we are going to have a special Mission Event, to help us celebrate and explore what Mission is about. Christ has a very important job for us to do. Bored? I don't think so. |

| I wasn't bored when the Council talked about Ann and Arthur and how we are going to have people praying for them every morning they are away at 8.30am, when they will be meeting in Nepal for their prayer meetings. Linked to Nepal!!!! Wow! And I wasn't bored when they said that we need to get some good sound equipment so that when we play recordings of interviews with people, everyone can hear what's said. | ||||
| I wasn't bored when the point was made that if we are doing things for our church we have to do it the best way possible, not the cheapest. | ||||
| I wasn't bored as we talked about how we are going to stand alongside of the people who are most hurting in our congregation. I wasn't bored when we we closed our devotions and listened to how God always stands alongside us, in our triumphs and our struggles. Funny about that Council Meeting, I must have missed the boring parts. | ||||
| Doing God's work isn't boring if its really about God's business. This is a battle royal, trying to work with God to bring joy and hope into people's lives, reaching out into our local community with love and engaging with the wider world's problems with passion and energy. I guess church life could get boring if we were just propping up an institution and being religious. It could get boring if we were just doing the same old things. It can't be boring when every time we meet someone is thinking "How can we do God's work better?" | ||||
| So
thanks to all you people who come to Council and Church Meetings with a
bee in your bonnet and enthusiasm for God's work. You stop us all from getting
bored. In fact, you give us all a bit of a lift, a bit of a buzz. God bless you. Bruce |
