Auction of Promises

November 30th Update

The Saturday evening "Auction of Promises" attracted in excess of one hundred expectant bidders, despite atrocious stormy weather conditions outside. The hall was filled to bursting point, with standing-room-only by the time the auction started at 7.00pm.

A wonderful evening, handled with skill and wit by Paul Watson, resulted in bids totalling over £2,300!

A great big THANK YOU to everybody who took part - whether you donated items or promises, bid and won (or bid and lost!), or just turned up to enjoy the evening ... and, of course, a special THANK YOU to Paul Watson and Donald Hilton, and to those who handled the complicated administration so efficiently and effectively.

AUCTIONEER - PAUL WATSON

Procedures

On the Day
Postal Bidding
The highest bidder will receive a yellow card showing the Lot No. and the Promise or Item.  At the close of the Auction these cards should be handed in at the treasurers' table together with the appropriate money.  In return, the bidder will receive a green card indicating the name, address, and telephone number of the person who has made the promise.  It is then the responsibility of the purchaser to make contact with the donor and arrange a mutually convenient time to receive the offer.  Items available on the night can be collected only by handing the green card to those staffing the display table.

If you are unable to attend the auction,
but would like to bid by post,
please print out the
Postal Bidding form

or contact
Rev'd Donald Hilton,
on 01508 480921

Postal bids must be received by Wednesday 13th October

Emmanuel Church is grateful to all those who have made promises or donated gifts, to the church members who have organised the event and, most especially, to Mr. Paul Watson the auctioneer.
