1. Calling all ourYoung Missionaries… ... I have been alerted to a Charity (No. 1020758) which seeks young people to join its Junior Members in Worldwide Mission Projects. The Charity is INTERSERVE with its Mission Phrase of "serving Christ across cultures". The Junior Section is called MADVENTURES and produces a quarterly magazine. For older ones amongst us the adult magazine is also a quarterly issue called GO.

2. Bible Translation…Five years ago it looked as if it would be 2150 before everyone in the world would have the Scriptures translated into their mother tongue!! However, as the tendency appears to be towards dwindling congregations in parts of the Western world, there has been a corresponding explosion in Christianity in the developing world. Better education in parts of Africa and Asia has brought about a huge increase in the numbers of workers who share the vision of Bible Translation. Wycliffe Bible Translators now set their goal year as 2025. A marvellous time-saving. We can help this vision by supporting training, consultancy support and funding so that the translations are put to the best use as soon as possible. As individuals we may feel very distant from this reality, but we can play a role. If you are interested, write to Wycliffe Bible Translators, Horsleys Green, High Wycombe, Bucks HP14 3XL. Or check the website:- www.wycliffe.org.uk or, e-mail:- askus@wycliffe.org
3. CAFOD…Computer Companies involved in the "Clean up your Computer Campaign" (I.B.M., Dell and Hewlett-Packard) are taking notice !!! Our own Yvonne Smith at St. Andrews was one campaigner who received a random but personalized response on behalf of Mr Palmisano, the I.B.M. Chief Executive. Supplier Conduct Principles do exist in order to bring about minimum standards for conducting business with I.B.M. Whilst not admitting that these standards may not be being met, he went on to say that I.B.M. will now "along with adopting these principles…be implementing a monitoring programme to help us institute our principles across our supply chain." It is obviously very much in the interest of the Suppliers to comply and thereby improve their own employees lot by exacting realistic payment from I.B.M. for the work that they do. If I.B.M. has responded, then their competitors will eventually do so, too, if they have not followed suit already? Has anyone else had a reply? So, proof close to home, that Campaigning can bring about changes on the other side of the world. Thank you for your support.
