Elastic Band

Originally formed during 2003 as the Emmanuel Church Youth Band, we decided to rename it when one day, one of our members came up to us and said, "With three of you being over 40, you might be stretching it, calling it a Youth Band. I reckon you ought to call it the Elastic Band." The name stuck.
The Elastic Band supplements the classical music of the church with contemporary Christian songs, mostly written for young audiences within the last ten years. We attempt to pick up on the most recent songs that we like the best, songs that express our faith in a youth orientated musical medium. Elastic Band sometimes works with the choir who are always willing to have a go at something different. The church has been very welcoming of this different genre of Christian music. Our musicians range from 11 years old to "over 50".
